How we work
Editorial policy
By the Pikt editorial teamLast reviewed
Pikt's guides, how-tos, glossary entries, and best-card pages are written to help you choose which of your own cards to use. This page explains who writes them, where the facts come from, what the dates mean, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Who writes these pages
Every page is written and kept up by Pikt Rewards LLC, the company that builds Pikt. We sign pages as the Pikt editorial team instead of under one person's name.
Card issuers don't write or pay for any of these pages.
Where the facts come from
Earn rates, annual fees, caps, and bonus categories come from Pikt's card catalog. A card's rates go into that catalog only after they have been checked against the issuer's own published terms. Cards we can name but haven't checked yet are never ranked or recommended.
Store categories come from Pikt's merchant data, which draws partly on public brand data. Your card issuer still decides the final category from the merchant code on your transaction, so it can differ from what a page expects.
Point values use the value you set, or Pikt's fallback value for that reward program when you haven't set one. The methodology page walks through each of these steps.
How pages are reviewed and dated
Each page shows a date under its title. Guides and best-card pages show when they were published and last updated. How-tos, glossary entries, and case studies show when they were last reviewed.
That date comes from the page's own history. It is the last time the page, or the shared text and card data it is built from, changed. It is not a promise that every card rate was rechecked that day.
Editors update the card catalog when issuer terms are reviewed or a correction is confirmed. There is no single public review schedule for every card, so some rates may be out of date. When the difference matters to you, check the issuer's current terms before you pay.
Case studies use sample wallets to show how the method works. They are examples, not live rates.
How rankings are made
Best-card pages rank cards with the same rewards engine as Pikt Checkout. It estimates what each card would earn on the purchase in dollars, using the card's rate for the store's likely category, any caps, and the value of its points. Only cards whose rates were checked against issuer terms are ranked.
Pikt earns $0 if you apply today. If we later earn a referral fee, rankings stay by value to you, never by commission.
Rankings compare rewards only. They don't weigh your credit, your approval odds, or whether a new card is right for you, and they aren't financial advice. Pikt estimates rewards; issuer terms and final rewards apply.
Corrections
If a rate, fee, or step on any page looks wrong or out of date, please tell us. Email support@trypikt.com or use the contact page, and include the page link and what looks off.
We check the claim against the issuer's current terms. If the page is wrong, we fix it. A fix to a card's rates is made in the card catalog, so it carries through to every page that uses that card. The date under the page title moves forward when the fix goes live.
