Uber rides and Uber Eats are different charges
An Uber ride is usually a transit or travel purchase. An Uber Eats order can qualify under a dining or eligible delivery category. The same app name does not make the two charges earn at the same rate.
Blue Cash Preferred earns 3% cash back on transit, and American Express includes rideshare in that category. Sapphire Preferred earns 2x on travel outside Chase Travel. Venture X earns 2x on other purchases, so its rate does not require a rideshare category.
Uber Cash changes one payment, not every ride
Amex Gold provides $10 in Uber Cash each month after you add the card to your Uber account. The benefit works on U.S. rides and orders when you select an American Express card for the transaction. The monthly amount does not turn every Uber purchase into a higher rewards category.
Use the Uber Cash only if the ride or order fits your plans. After the monthly balance is used, compare the normal earn rates again. Do not count an unused credit as savings.
Lyft has a dated Chase benefit
